Accutane is an acne treatment medication availble only by prescription. Accutane contains isotretinoin or Vitamin A, in significant concentration. This helps stop the production of oil in your skin, which is one of the top causes of acne. Thus the drug is often used to treat cases of severe acne, as it is a powerful drug. Although it is beneficial for many, it is not without its risks and side effects. This is especially important if you are pregnant, so it is recommended that you take a pregnancy test before beginning treatment. Accutane is currently available in either oral or cream form.

Accutane has been around for a while, meaning there has been many chances to study it. It is produced by Hoffman-La-Roche and was first granted FDA approval in 1982. Over the years, Accutane has proven to be successful for many people and has provided many positive results, but it has also been the cause of several unfortunate side effects.
